TimberLife Educational Software Program
Following 10 years of intensive industry and government supported R&D, this leading edge, world first, multi-million dollar project delivers an extensive range of the necessary tools that will give building and construction industry professionals the confidence to specify and detail timber in a wide range of applications, from sole plates to suspension bridges.
Timber has mistakenly been viewed as a less reliable construction material to steel or concrete from a durability perspective. This has arisen mainly due to the huge range of species and natural durability and treatments available, coupled with the diverse macro and micro climatic environmental considerations facing specifiers across Australia.
One of the developed tools is the TimberLife Educational Software package that provides a means of predicting timber's service life performance, with confidence, using the following predictive models:
- In-ground decay
- Above-ground decay
- Decay and corrosion within the building envelope
- Corrosion of fasteners exposed to the weather
- Marine borers
- Cost effective termite management and options.
There is also a full colour, 100 page Timber Service Life Design Guide that can also be downloaded from this site plus links to the R&D project reports and a draft Timber Service Life Prediction Code (suitable for engineer design predictions in conjunction with AS 1720.1 Timber Structures Code).
Register or login below to get the Timber Service Life Design Guide.
Please note the software only works on PCs and was built for Windows 97, it may work on later versions but there is no guarantee.
