Essential Residential Timber Design Seminar

FRAMING DESIGN, BUSHFIRE, ENGINEERED WOOD, ENERGY EFFICIENCY

This free seminar will explore how timber may be used to better build residential buildings. The presentations from industry experts cover essential tips for cost efficient timber framing design solutions, where to specify engineered wood products solutions economically, using timber in bush-fire prone areas as well as the outcomes of new research on best use of thermal mass in timber-framed buildings.

The seminar is a must for building and design professional including architects , building certifiers, architects, engineers, building designers and other building professionals.

CPD: Certificates of Attendance available for all participants including builders and building certifiers. Formal CPD points available for architects.

THE SPEAKERS

Tim Rossiter - Chief Engineer, MiTek Australia Ltd
With 25 years in the timber truss and frames industry, Tim is intimately involved with all issues of timber framing including design, manufacture, installation and remedial work.

George Dolezal - Principal Engineer, Meyer Timber
George has over 15 years of experience in timber design with expertise in residential and commercial building solutions using engineered wood products, including fire and acoustics aspects. He has also assessed, developed and commercialised overseas timber technologies for use in Australian building.

Stephen Mitchell - Sustainability Manager, TDA
Established in 1938 the Timber Development Association (TDA) sits on numerous Australian Standards such as Timber Framing, Bushfire, and Termite Control. Stephen Mitchell joined the TDA in 2006 and is a qualified trainer and experienced presenter on many technical topics.

Ben Slee - Principal Architect, Slee & Co
Ben has extensive experience on a range of commercial and residential projects in the UK, New Zealand, Africa and Australia and recently lead a University of Sydney research project into the use of thermal mass in lightweight timber houses in Australia.
