The use of performance-based design will be explored as an option to achieving compliance with the NCC’s mandatory Performance Requirements.


The seminar will explain the fundamental principles of the performance-based code and how it is applied, along with an outline of ABCB resources available to support industry in its application.


An overview of the ABCB reforms will be provided with the aim of fostering a performance culture, increasing innovation and productivity.


Panel discussion with Boris Iskra (WoodSolutions), Benjamin Cripps (ABCB) and a local architect.

Learning Outcomes:

After completing this course, attendees will be able to:

 - List opportunities for architects when using performance-based design.
 - Describe the performance-based NCC with an emphasis on the:

     - structure of the NCC;

     - language used in the NCC Performance Requirements; and

     - use of Assessment Methods

 - Communicate information available to support developing Performance Solutions.
