Residential Timber Frame Construction Standard – AS 1684 2021 Revision

This Standard specifies requirements for building practice and the selection, placement and fixing of the various structural elements used in the construction of timber-framed houses or alterations and additions to such buildings. The Standard was recently revised to make technical changes, correct mistakes and clarify the application of the document. Technical changes include: 

  • Flooring and decking changes to reflect current research and experiences

  • New nail and screw fixings for thick timber

  • Bracing capacity change to reflect the use of common timber 

  • Amending metal tie-down connections details
