NCC Design of Mid-rise Timber Building-Overview

NCC Design of Mid-rise Timber Building-Overview

This course provides an overview to changes to the NCC’s DTS provisions that allow the use of lightweight and massive timber construction systems in several classes of building up to an effective height of 25m. This is termed Mid-rise timber building. The course contents include:

  • The course and the 2016 changes to the NCC

  • Timber Construction options

  • Overview of DTS solutions

  • Onsite considerations

Completing the learning resources in this course can help you understand key requirements for planning for a mid-rise timber building compliant with the NCC’s DTS provisions.

The course comprises 6 video modules:

VIDEO 1: Module 1: Introduction

Length: 5:30

An overview of the NCC 2016 changes on mid-rise timber buildings and a guide to the WoodSolutions Campus course's educational and training resources.

VIDEO 2: Module 2: Timber Construction Options for Mid-rise Timber Buildings

Length: 13:27

This module covers the four main types of timber construction options for mid-rise timber buildings and how these systems significantly reduce efficiency, speed and cost in the construction process.

VIDEO 3: Module 3: Summary of 2016 NCC Changes for Mid-rise Timber Buildings

Length: 4:45

An overview of the six NCC 2016, volume 1 clause changes to the deemed to satisfy provisions that are now allowed for mid-rise timber buildings.

VIDEO 4: Module 4: Overview of the Deemed-to-Satisfy Solution for Mid-rise Timber Buildings

Length: 9:58

An overview of the deemed-to-satisfy solution for mid-rise timber buildings. This module covers the four new NCC provision changes for control elements in mid-rise timber buildings. These are; automatic sprinklers, fire resistant timber, non-combustible insulation and cavity barriers.

VIDEO 5: Module 19: Protecting Against Fires During Construction Protecting Against Fires During Construction

Length: 11:53
