WoodSolutions is proud to have Timothy Devlin from Theca Timber speaking at the event, sharing insights from the Sydney Fish Market project with his presentation, Sydney Fish Market: Delivering the largest timber roof in the southern hemisphere.

The new Sydney Fish Market features one of Australia’s most ambitious engineered timber structures, with a highly complex long-span engineered timber roof forming a defining element of the building.

This case study explores how the timber roof moved from architectural concept through engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation. It highlights the coordination required between designers, specialist consultants, suppliers and contractors; and shares practical lessons for building surveyors involved in assessing and delivering complex engineered timber projects.

Timothy Devlin is the NSW / ACT State Manager at Theca Timber, specialising in the design, coordination and delivery of prefabricated engineered timber structures. He works closely with architects, engineers, builders and consultants to resolve the cost, fabrication and construction issues that influence successful engineered timber projects.

Tim has a background spanning design and construction with previous senior roles at Westfield, Mirvac and Rawson Group. At Theca Timber, he has been involved in major Australian engineered timber projects including the Sydney Fish Market, helping translate complex project requirements into practical and buildable timber outcomes.
