South Australia’s top home builder, and 7th most prolific in Australia according to HIA’s Top 100 Builders report for FY25, The Hickinbotham Group is proud to use timber framing – and they’re not shy about sharing the benefits with their clients.

As part of a collaboration with the WoodSolutions Renewable Timber Framing Campaign, the Group, which consists of Hickinbotham, Stateman and SA Housing Centre, have developed a series of client booklets to support the transformation of their business model to incorporate a ‘built to sell’ approach.
Designed as a key touchpoint in the client journey, the booklets bring together their home designs, inclusions and the Group’s building approach in a clear and accessible format. This includes the performance, financial and sustainability benefits that underpin their choice to build with timber framing across all their projects.
The booklets give clients visibility of key elements within the home, while reinforcing the consistency and quality in place behind the scenes – and within the walls.
Backed by a legacy of more than 70 years of creating homes for South Australians, the booklets reinforce not just the simplicity of their new approach, but the credibility of their construction methodology and long-term commitment to the market at a time when industry is under pressure to deliver more homes sooner.
“All of our homes are built with timber frames - naturally strong, durable and quiet,” said a company representative.
“Unlike other materials, timber doesn't contract or expand, so your home stays crack free and peaceful, without those unexpected creaks at night. Tiny air pockets in the timber help to insulate your home, keeping you comfortable all year round.”
Customised to care: Supporting builders through the timber framing campaign
Creation of the booklets has been supported by a collaboration with the WoodSolutions Renewable Timber Framing campaign.
Following an introduction to Hickinbotham Group’s senior leadership through a mutual connection, Framing Campaign Manager Christine Briggs worked with the Group’s sales and marketing team on the development of tailored content.
“I think the clincher was when we developed creative concepts that respected their brand identity,” said Christine, “but also drew out the relevance and value of why they choose to build with structural timber.”
“Putting this content into their client booklets is the perfect place in the client journey. It’s where the builder’s construction decisions can be clearly explained, while educating clients to give them confidence in the durability, strength and long-term thermal properties of timber framing.”
“Hickinbotham are the cornerstone of housing South Australians, and the marketing team have been a pleasure to deal with. They’re passionate about their brands whilst being curious about the key building ingredient of structural timber.”
The opportunity is there to continue the collaboration across other marketing mediums in the Hickinbotham Group, with Christine ready to support.
This partnership is the latest in a series of engagements with Australian builders that showcase the diversity of support the Renewable Framing Campaign stands ready to extend. From support with printed materials and design centre displays, to social and website content and the recently launched Timber Framing Carbon Calculator, the campaign is ready to help builders showcase the value of structural timber.
