Publications
This publication outlines the systems, design considerations, and benefits of using timber for buildings up to 25 meters high under the National Construction Code. It highlights timber’s advantages in cost, speed, sustainability, and safety, emphasizing prefabrication, structural performance, and environmental benefits as key drivers of its growing adoption across Australia’s mid-rise building sector.
This project report presents a case study of a five-storey mid-rise development combining concrete podium levels with three upper floors of prefabricated lightweight timber framing. It demonstrates how timber construction delivers faster, safer, and more sustainable outcomes, achieving high acoustic and fire performance while reducing costs, environmental impact, and construction time compared to conventional materials.
