High winds not only apply uplift forces on roofs, but also horizontal, over-turning forces on buildings.  This seminar will assist builders, designers and engineers to understand and apply AS1684.2 to provide houses with optimum capacity to resist wind actions. 
 
The seminar will discuss:  

 - Code compliant timber roof frame construction;

 - The effects of high wind forces on residential wall frames and roof frames;

 - Selection of framing components having sufficient capacity and spacing to resist horizontal and over-turning wind forces;

 - Specification of tie-downs for stick and trussed roofs built onto masonry and timber framed walls;

 - Design of bracing of wall framing to enable roof, wall and floor systems to resist wind forces on buildings;

 - Installation of timber stick and trussed roofs onto masonry and framed walls.
