WoodSolutions is partnering with the BDAV to deliver a presentation specifically tailored for Building Designers. This event will provide detailed training in relation to changes to the National Construction Code to permit Mid-Rise Timber Buildings up to 25m effective height.

A Proposal-for-Change to create voluntary Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) provisions in the National Construction Code Building Code of Australia Volume 1 (NCC) was submitted by Forest & Wood Products Australia to the Australian Building Codes Board to allow the use of timber construction systems in Class 2 (apartments), Class 3 (hotels) and Class 5 (offices) buildings up to 25 metres in effective height (termed ‘mid-rise’ construction). The provisions address both traditional ‘timber-frame’ and new ‘massive timber’ systems such as cross-laminated timber (CLT) with the use of appropriate layers of fire-protective grade plasterboard (i.e. fire-protected timber) and the use of NCC compliant fire sprinkler systems.

The presentation will work through the WoodSolutions Technical Guide on Mid-Rise Timber Buildings and provide attendees with the knowledge to confidently implement the NCC changes. Presentations at this event will be delivered by Boris Iskra (FWPA) and Paul England (EFT Consult) who were principally involved in the development and submission of the NCC proposal on behalf of FWPA.

We anticipate keen interest in this event. Book quickly to avoid disappointment.

Can't Attend But Wish to Access the Proceedings?

Members who are unable to attend, but would like the BDAV to videotape the proceedings are asked to pre-order a DVD of the seminar on the online booking form. The cost covers taping, production and distribution of DVDs. If sufficient pre-orders are received to cover costs, the taping will proceed. If taping does not proceed, those Members who have pre-ordered the DVD will have their payment fully refunded.
