In WA the residential housing market is becoming more diverse with a steady rise in timber-framed housing and multi-storey residential buildings. For decades timber framing has been used effectively in second storey additions and whole house construction in the Perth hills and regional areas. However, more recently timber framed wall systems are proving well-suited to infill housing, narrow and small lot multi-storey units and sites with poor foundation conditions.

This seminar will examine residential building methods using timber frame wall systems which offer many advantages in construction innovation, finish, time and cost.

The seminar will discuss:
 - The advantages offered with building framed construction;
 - Design and fabrication systems used to build efficiently and cost effectively onsite;
 - Light-weight construction techniques when building on high surface movement sites;
 - Specifying timber frame systems for multi-storey (three storeys and above) in conformance with the
   NCC2016
