Six days and six nights of outstanding inspiration, information and fun from Falkenberg, Sweden to Oslo, Norway for AUD$6,950 single accommodation basis.


Join our group of architects, engineers, developers and building professionals visiting landmark timber projects, fabrication and manufacturing facilities. Your tour leader is are Andrew Dunn, timber engineer and CEO of the Timber Development Association.

The tour is scheduled to occur before the World Conference of Timber Engineering - 19 to 22 June.

LOCATION: Travel 6 days from Falkenberg, Sweden, to Oslo, Norway, by luxury coach.

DATES: Sunday 11 June to Saturday 17 June 2023.

GROUP: Limited to 25 guests only (spaces will be allocated in order of receipt of full payment).

TOUR COST: AUD$6,950 per person single room basis (twin share price on application) includes applicable GST. Please note that this price is LAND CONTENT ONLY. Flights/travel to and from Falkenberg and Oslo are at your own expense. Bookings are confirmed only on full payment of tour costs.

TRAVEL IN COMFORT AND STAY IN STYLE: You will enjoy travelling in absolute comfort on board a luxury coach and accommodation in carefully selected 4 Star hotels in Sweden and Norway. We will stay at the Wood Hotel Resort and Spa in Brumunddal, Norway, an eighteen-storey mass timber hotel. The last night's accommodation will be at the World Conference of Timber Engineering venue in Oslo.

TOUR DETAILS
Preliminary Itinerary (subject to change)

  • Sunday 11 June – Arrive and welcome drinks. Accommodation: Falkenberg, Sweden.
  • Monday 12 June – Visit Randek machinery manufacturer, mass timber manufacturing plant,  modular construction factory and recently completed buildings. 
  • Tuesday 13 June – Visit timber buildings under construction, tour Södra Climate Arena and Videum Science Park and Limnologen Växjö, and the original modern timber frame eight-storey apartment buildings. 
  • Wednesday 14 June – Visit Bo Klok robotic apartment manufacturing plant and nearby apartment building (Bo Klok is a joint venture between Ikea and Skanska). 
  • Thursday 15 June – Tour a Zerorobot manufacturing plant and timber buildings completed or under construction.
  • Friday 16 June – Travel to Lillehammer and see large-scale wood buildings used for the winter Olympics. Visit Moelven, a mass timber producer. Stay at Wood Hotel Resort and Spa, an eighteen-storey mass timber building. 
  • Saturday 17 June – Tour ends (travel home or relax before the World Conference Timber engineering Commences).  

ACCESS TO PEOPLE AND PLACES NOT NORMALLY AVAILABLE
Our small tour group will visit high-profile projects and meet the building professionals behind them - people you could not usually gain access to. We will see buildings that are under construction as well as completed projects. Furthermore, visit to CLT, glulam manufacturing, and modular fabrication plants are included. The tour has the very best and most advanced timber manufacturing in the world.

AIR TRAVEL     
No air travel is included. Participants must make their own way to Falkenberg, Sweden and from Oslo, Norway.

CPD 
This tour attracts informal Continuing Professional Development points. A certificate of attendance will be issued upon the tour's end. Individuals refer to their own Professional Association's CPD Policy for details of requirements and conditions.

EXCLUSIONS
All airfares and associated travel expenses, travel insurance, meals not specified in itinerary, airport transfers, personal sightseeing and personal expenses.

Complete the Booking Form. Pay AUD$6,950.00 per person is due now and payable at the time of booking. (Spaces will be allocated in order of receipt of payment)

TOUR PRICES
The tour prices are based on accommodation, coach travel and other costs at the foreign exchange rate as of 1 February 2023. The tour operator reserves the right to alter the tour price or modify the tour if there is a price increase at the time of booking. Note that price variations are generally due to accommodation cost increases due to room level not being available or exchange rate changes. All price differences will be passed on.

Where the price increase is greater than 10% of the original price, attendees have the right to withdraw with a full refund of the monies paid, minus any non-refundable expenses that occurred. 

CANCELLATION FEES
Cancellations will be subject to the following cancellation charges:

Days Prior to the start date (11 June 2023)
61 – 90 days 50% full tour costs
0 – 60 days prior 100 % of total tour costs

We take the day on which you cancel your booking in writing as the date of cancellation. Non-refundable expenses such as fees and taxes will be deducted from the amount payable. 

TOUR CANCELLATION
The tour has been priced on the basis of a minimum of 20 attendees having booked 60 days prior to the tour start date. The tour operator reserves the right to cancel the tour, refunding all monies paid (minus non-refundable expenses) or offering arrangements to proceed with the tour at a modified price.

ITINERARY CHANGES
The tour operator reserves the right to make changes to the tour programme. Any change to the programme will be replaced with similar arrangements.

TRAVEL INSURANCE
It is a condition of the tour that you must be covered by international travel insurance for medical and accidental cover. A copy of your travel insurance certificate, an emergency next of kin and telephone number details and scan passport page are required to be given to the tour organiser.

PASSPORT AND VISAS
Individuals are required to ascertain and arrange any visa requirements for the country of travel (Denmark, Sweden and Norway). It is also advisable to have more than 6 months of passport expiry date available. Where a new passport is required, individuals are advised to arrange this at their earliest convenience.

MEETING POINT – SUNDAY 11 JUNE 
Participants will be asked to meet in the Hotel foyer in Falkenberg, Sweden, at 6.00 pm Sunday, 11 June. It is important that travel arrangements are made to arrive well ahead of this time. The tour will depart on time on Monday, and if you miss this, it will be your responsibility to arrange travel to meet the tour. 
It is suggested to fly into Copenhagen airport (CPH) Denmark and catch the direct intercity rail link to Falkenberg (2.5-hour trip). The rail station is located in Terminal 3, and rail services depart hourly and operate daily. Tickets are available with the terminal or through Öresundståg.
Your ticket for Öresundståg is also valid for public transport within the city zone that you are travelling from and to. The ticket is valid for one connecting trip within one hour before the train's departure time and one hour after your arrival time.


COVID REQUIREMENTS
COVID-19 remains an ongoing global health risk. It is a requirement of attending the tour to have medical and travel insurance that includes COVID coverage. It is highly recommended that you have a recent COVID-19 booster before travelling. 

Health advice due to COVID-19 is continually changing. Rules and restrictions to prevent outbreaks can change quickly. Many countries, including Australia, are implementing COVID-19 measures for people travelling from China, including Hong Kong and Macau. It's important to regularly check the rules in the destinations you're travelling to and transiting through. For the latest details on entry and exit conditions, you should contact your airline, travel provider, or the nearest embassy or consulate of the destination you're entering or transiting through. For travellers transiting through China, please check the entry status.

COVID Requirements By Country 
It is up to each individual to check COVID entry requirements to Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The following is as of January 2023. Please check with each country for the current status.

Denmark 
There are no covid-19 related restrictions on entry to Denmark.

Sweden 
Travellers from China must present a certificate of a negative covid-19 test upon arrival in Sweden.

Norway 
There are no covid-19 related restrictions on entry to Norway.

Returning to Australia
Travellers arriving in Australia from China, including Hong Kong and Macau, will be required to undertake a COVID-19 test within the 48 hours prior to travel and show evidence of a negative test result. This requirement applies regardless of your vaccination status and includes Australian citizens.

COVID-19 Whilst on the Tour 
If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 whilst on tour, we will ask that you take a Rapid Antigen Test, wear a mask and isolate yourself from the others  attending as much as possible. If health issues escalate, we will take you to the nearest hospital.
