Mass timber is increasingly being used to construct office and apartment buildings taking advantages of timber’s natural visual appeal and positive health and wellbeing benefits. However, mass timber’s advantages can extend to other commercial developments. Goodman’s architecturally designed new development at Chifley Business Park in Victoria is one of the first industrial/showroom developments in Australia to replace all structural steel elements with mass timber.
The development is the first-of-its kind for Goodman Australia, constructed predominantly from mass timber using sustainably-produced timber which produces less emissions than steel in the manufacturing process, allowing Goodman to target a 5-Star Green Star rating on the Chifley Business Park mass timber development. In addition, the development is estimated to produce 23% less embodied carbon than if it were built using steel.
This webinar will provide a great understanding of the opportunities of using mass timber in construction of commercial buildings and will be of interest to a wide range of building professionals including developers, builders, Architects and structural engineers.
