Description

The new 2022 National Construction Code (NCC) Volume Two provisions include some significant changes for the minimum energy efficient design requirements for new homes in Australia. Whilst traditional timber framed construction can meet the new 7 Star requirements, there will be design and specification changes required for the different climate zones throughout Australia.

Glazing, insulation, cladding materials, colours, floor systems, eaves, and even the choice of steel or timber framed construction, now play a significant role in meeting the new 7 Star NatHERS requirements.

In this final WS webinar for 2022, University of Melbourne energy efficiency specialist, Dr Philip Christopher, will give an overview of the changes, before doing a deep dive into a range of methods to improve the energy performance of homes throughout Australia.

A range of solutions will be presented with a focus on the more difficult cooler climate zones.

Finally, a summary will be provided of the impact thermal bridging has on the performance of homes, as well as the new changes implemented in the NCC that impacts steel framing.
